Warm and Sultry in French Polynesia
04 May 2012 | Tahoihae, Nuka Hiva, French Polynesia
We're OK. Just relaxing and enjoying island life here in Nuka Hiva. Sorry I haven't blogged lately. Just being lazy. We got our sail repaired yesterday. A nice group effort. Karen on 'Beau Soleil' did alot of the work with the help of her classic old sewing machine. Rick, a sailmaker from Opua, New Zealand was also on hand with help and advice. There's still problems with this sail however. After inspecting it carefully, it doesn't seem to be holding up as well as it should, being only 20 months old. I'll be in contact with our sailmaker to figure out where to go from here. Our mates on 'Stolen Kiss' who we buddy-boated with in Mexico in 2010 have arrived here today. Since seeing them last at Barra de Navidad, Dec. 26, 2010, they have been to Central America, Panama, and most recently to the Galapagos Islands, and now are anchored next to us once again, here in the South Pacific. The sailing community is so fun to be a part of. There's 20 other boats here from all around the world. So interesting to get to know all the others. Just wish I spoke French!
