Anchored in Company

After a days bashing to windward we arrived at Long Island by early evening, and what an evening it was, the sunset was magnificent (check the photo). Smiley arrived shortly after us and we were both anchored a little way from the beach.
That night Dulcinea (a Seawind 1160) skippered by Dave and with Peter and Mark and their families on board (7 all told) came in and anchored closer in, this of course as we slept soundly only to notice there arrival at breakfast the next morning.
Dave is an experienced Kimberley Cruiser (I think he has been through the area 7 times) and gave us much valuable advice together with pamphlets of information to support the FSC Cruising Guide.
The predicted strong easterlies came in that night and repeated until we left today (Saturday). The pattern was for the easterlies to get up to full strength after midnight, continue on through the morning and then abate by mid afternoon, often by dusk it was calm. This pattern was set to continue because of slow moving high to the south and when Dave decided to run for Exmouth he advised us (that's Smiley and Kawan) to use the opportunity to run for Onslow and then hug the coast as we continue towards the Kimberley.
