A blog reader sent me an email asking how our two boys are doing. Here are the questions and answers:

What was the boy's prior sailing backround? They've both been sailing with us since they were born, mainly day sails around the SF bay, some races, and the occasional overnight cruise up the Delta. Our older son, Francois, is enrolled in the junior sailing program at SFYC and sails Optis and FJs. Where they excited from the get go, or? Yes, they were and remain very excited. Our older son is prone to mild seasickness (queasiness) though which sometimes bothers him, but he is coping and usually in good spirits. What activities do have for them to do while underway and on the hook? They both love to read and to draw pictures. We have a DVD player with about 50 kids' and classic movies they like to watch. Francois is a nature lover and loves snorkeling, observing and sometimes catching wildlife of various sorts. They like to fish. They love to play on the beach and swim. And they have their math and English lessons. Do they trim or reef sails? Our older son Francois helps to trim sails on occasion. What do they think of the cruise so far? Highlights, lowlights? They have told us they're having a great time. They love traveling and seeing new places, and having new experiences. Of course there are moments when they'd rather be on land. But they are learning to cope with the occasional rough seas. I'm quite proud of them for being such good sports.
