All is well with us in San Diego...we are getting our bearings and think we have finally unpacked and repacked almost everything we brought!! We are definitely loading up the Pilot with many things 'we thought' we would need, but in the end, it is just too much stuff!!
We managed to complete our first week of homeschooling...yippee!! We seem to be settling in to a routine and my challenge will be for it to stay interesting and fresh. It also had not occurred to me that although we are homeschooling only for the morning, the kids definitely need some sort of a break but I also learned...not too much of a break as it is hard to get back into it if they are having too much fun!
I know most of you will be shocked but I actually baked a cake today!! We had some extra carrots so I thought, what the heck...let's bake a cake! It was good to figure out how to work in such a small space...I figure by the end of this trip, I'll be able to cook a turkey dinner in our little galley!!
We are seeing some cool effects already with the boys - Jordan already seems more responsible/mature and Marcus continues to buzz around singing and chattering at the novelty of it all.
Craig had so many posts about wildlife, so it would seem that you'd be expecting to hear some more stories about our encounters...unfortunately, it is not as exotic as whales and dolphins, but there are some cute skunks that meander along the rocks at the edge of the marina!! Since they come out at night, it was too dark to take a picture so we thought we'd recreate it for you (we're sending it to the Louvre for display):
The one negative is that the boys have fallen in with the wrong crowd as you'll see in the photo below. They've started carrying weapons and are in the market for a parrot.
(A possibly more accurate account -> The boys have been excited about the Halloween party that is planned for the Baja Ha Ha participants. We bought them some costumes and it seemed fitting that they go as pirates. We've quickly restricted the swords for outdoor use only!!)
On Monday, Craig's Dad arrives to hang out with us until we leave for Mexico on Oct 26th. Roy has met us on many trips including Mexico and Hawaii so it will be fun to see him again. We are saving some or our trips like Disneyland, the zoo and the aquarium for when he gets here.
