Tranmission Troubles AGAIN
05 May 2010 | On the Sea of Cortez
Craig
We're currently crossing the Sea of Cortez and our new transmission has just failed! It just started skipping and that was after running for a few hours normally. We didn't shift or anything, just running smoothly and then Zzzzzzzz.
For the worriers out there (you know who you are), we're in no danger. This is expensive and annoying, but not life threatening.
So this has forced a change in plans. We were going to bypass La Paz and head straight up into the Sea to explore places that we haven't been before. We were afraid that we wouldn't have time to see that part of Mexico if we went to La Paz first. Anyway, no we have to go to La Paz. From the troubleshooting I've done, I think this tranny is defective and we're going to need to get another one shipped down from the US. So the two weeks or more to get all that done will likely mean that we'll miss out on a bunch of the Sea. Dang!
That's life. We'll have to roll with it.
The wind is supposed to die tonight so we may be bobbing out here for an extras day or two before it fills back in. So we don't have an ETA for La Paz yet.
