We departed JFK on time and flew the Great Circle course to Ireland. The last winter storm that dumped nearly two feet of snow on NYC with gale force winds wasn't finished.
As we climbed to over 34,000 feet heading for Nova Scotia our Boeing 757 danced in the cross winds outside. Soon it settled out and we just smiled at each other saying, " "shaken, not stirred,".
The back side of the low gave us a tailwind which landed us 30 minutes early. Wondering how customs would be at 0530, we were meet with smiling faces and kind words.
After two buses and a train we arrived at our destination in Cobh ( pronounced Cove) at 1030. Local time is EDT +4 hours. After very little sleep we opened the door on the Waters Edge Hotel with little hope of an early check in. It was not to be as early as hoped, but the receptionist told us to come back shortly and our room would be ready.
The hour or so wait gave us time to start exploring. This wonderful seaside town is making the final arrangements for their St. Patrick's Day celebrations. It should be good!
Back in our room, after enjoying our view for a few minutes we took a power nap. Waking several uninterrupted hours after our heads hit the pillows we were ready to explore a Cobh Pub.
