My Spanish moss fix
30 October 2010 | Fort Frederica
Sunny, 70s, just a whiff from the north
Had a lunch stop here at Fort Frederica. James Oglethorpe and his troops stopped a challenge from the Spanish to move north from their stronghold in St. Augustine.
I didn't go ashore in Beaufort, SC so I was luxuriating in the cascade of Spanish moss.
After lunch and a (rare, in these days of continuous piloting) nap, we pushed on for a couple hours to take advantage of a high tide through the shoal Jekyl Creek.
