Sunny to squally, W10, 80

Pulled out of the slip at 3:30 with the half moon beaming brightly and Orion and his faithful pup Sirius watching over us.
Out the inlet on a 3 knot ebb tide. The chatter on the VHF from veteran crossers says this is one of the calmest crossings they have had. Seas about 6 inches, wind 10 knots from the west. Not wanting to dilly dally, we motorsailed the whole way arriving at West End noon sharp. Like we had a lunch date. 8 hours, inlet to inlet. To celebrate, Alex jumped into the water.
Customs could not have been easier or more straightforward. Filled out a few forms, walked three steps to the customs office, here's your $300, thank you sir and we're outta here.
On the way in, a squall line was forming with half a dozen waterspots snaking down to the surface. Impressive to see from a distance. If we had been closer we could have sailed around them. Neptune threw us a little curve ball for the last three hours to Rick and Liz's place in Lucaya. In contrast to the crossing, it was like being in a washing machine with three foot seas coming every which away. Fortunately, we had an almost two knot current sweeping us along, so we could throttle back and not get beaten up too badly.
Rick and Skipper were out trolling the banks for dinner in the Shamrock and escorted us through the shallow channel. Rum drinks and curried lobster tails for dinner! Welcome to the Bahamas....
