Finally on the Bank
04 December 2010 | Mangrove Cay
Sunny, W10
Underway at first light. The wind and seas haven't been this calm in a week and won't be for another five days after today. Sneaking through the window again. We made it onto the Little Bahama Bank at Indian Cay Channel by the hair on our chinny chin chin. A couple inches to spare or 20 minutes to spare on a falling tide, you choose. Yes Virginia, there is a five foot spot in this channel.
When we started to breathe again we turned off the engine and ghosted along the bank in 9-10 feet of water. Reveling in the gorgeous water and not another boat all the way to the horizon. Finally the wind putzed and we made a beeline to the backside of Mangrove Cay because tomorrow morning it is forecast to be blowing 20 knots from the west.
