Dramatic skies

We made our departure from Beaufort into a morning with very unstable air. Big cumulus clouds already forming with brilliant shafts of light interspersed. We spent a few hours getting lucky as several very dark clouds with big rain, some lightening and thunder, all managed to evade our path. It cleared away and we had wonderful motorsailing through the South Carolina low country in the afternoon, a fair tide pushing us along to boot! For several days now, the prevailing SE winds combines with the afternoon seabreeze to give us a regular assist of one to two knots. A welcome plus with diesel prices lurking around $4.00 a gallon.
We heard our friends on White Seal on the VHF in the distance and planned a rendezvous tomorrow at Charleston City Marina. We’ll be safely tied there when it gets breezy tomorrow night.
