Another day of motoring but fortunately flat calm. Easily half the wear and tear on Meg and the Captain. Arrived in Annapolis early enough to go ashore for an ice cream!
Back at the anchorage, it was time for the Wednesday night races. A dozen classes, so the starting horn and cannon were busy for at least half an hour from the big go fast J boats to a contingent of venerable Alberg 30s and two topsail schooners bringing up the rear. Must have been 60 boats out there racing on just a wisp of wind. But they brought out their tissue paper thin drifters and reachers and spinnakers and zipped right around the course. The finish was across the stern of Calypso, the late sun setting the translucent chutes ablaze, against the backdrop of the Naval Academy. What a treat of eye candy for the last evening of Calypso’s cruise. Heading for the barn tomorrow.
