The blog goes on walkabout
12 May 2011 | Sassafras River, Chesapeake Bay
The Captain and Meg delivered Calypso safe and sound to a mooring on the Sassafras while the First Mate drove the car back from Atlanta. While Calypso is not swinging on her home mooring, this is really the end of our cruise. And a fine one it has been! If you’ve been following the blog, you may agree.
We visited here on the way down last year and this is where we left on our prior cruise to the Bahamas 33 years ago, so it feels like home. Wickes Westcott and his son Scott still run the marina. Calypso will be in their good care while we make a little side trip.
We’ll come back in six weeks to sail home but first sister Julie and her husband Alain have invited us for a bicycle tour of the Dordogne Valley near their country home. A big trip for us as Christine has never been to Europe and I have not been there in 40 years. So before you read some more tales from the high seas, you may see a post or two from France. Stay tuned!
