Allez-y, pour la Patrie!
01 June 2011 | Arc de Triomphe, Paris
If these guys were charging at me, I'd certainly step aside!
Our first day in Paris was sunny, breezy and a perfect temperature.
We hit all the highlights. The view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, a walk under the Eiffel Tower and along the Seine, a visit to the Musee d'Orsey, and a finally a stroll up the Champs d' Elysee. With her French and years in the city, Julie is the perfect tour guide, negotiating all the subtle nuances of the big city on behalf of the country mice.
At every turn, we admired the gorgeous French architecture dating back 150 years to when Baron Haussmann razed big chunks of the city, at the behest of Napoleon III, and started over.
