11 July 2012 | Dix Island
Even just a few miles away from settled Maine, one can still find a bit of more rustic Maine. Dix Island, just off the Muscle Ridge Channel is one of our favorites. We have the anchorage to ourselves tonight. A gentle roll makes in from the sea as we hang on our own hook, just to remind us the Atlantic is a few miles away.
Ashore, someone from the cooperative of tiny cabins, each hidden in their private piece of the island, mows a lush grassy path through and around the island so we can share their amazing views. Thanks, Dix!
