Buongiorno a tutti ,siamo quasi giunti al termine di questa bellissima regata
Almagores II è arrivato a Cape Town per partecipare a questa regata storica con entusiasmo , La nostra barca è armata a sloop da crociera , il sartiame e le vele sono ottime ma lontano dalle performance di regata . Nonostante ciò ci siamo buttati in questa avventura con passione e ognuno di noi a dato il suo contributo con l'esperienza e le capacità . Complimenti a tutto l'equipaggio !
Che dire...nella prima parte della regata abbiamo pagato alcuni problemi , primo fra tutti la perdita del nostro gennaker leggero , un problema alla stecca randa e le prese mare tappate da una busta di plastica (troppa in mare !) ci sono costate parecchie miglia .
Nella seconda parte grande merito ai nostri avversari Mussolo e Haspa Hamburg che non hanno mai mollato e continuato a guadagnare . Nonostante tutto ,con difficoltà a tenere la barca molto alla poggia senza il nostro gennaker per venti leggeri , abbiamo fatto più percorso degli altri ,ma siamo stati comunque molto concentrati e veloci . Nella terza fase del race la scelta di passare a nord della perturbazione è stata azzeccata (Bravo Henriquet ! , il nostro fantastico skipper, che ha interpretato al meglio questo delicato passaggio), rimanendo in sicurezza ci ha permesso di veleggiare alla grande nonostante groppi di 45 nodi in cui Giuli (Angelo Romanengo) sembrava assolutamente a suo agio al timone( grande sicurezza!)
Mi sembra che in quest'ultima occasione ci siamo ripresi un pò di miglia sui nostri diretti concorrenti
Adesso siamo giunti quasi al termine e ci separano poco più di 200 miglia da Rio de Janeiro , la regata si fa molto più interessante ...se è possibile .L'aria è leggera , estremamente leggera , ce la mettiamo tutta a fare un'ottima andatura di poppa , poggiare quando si può orzare quando si deve , cercando di non fermare la barca nell'onda ,ma senza allontanarci troppo dalla meta . Analizziamo ogni scarso e valutiamo la strambata .Siamo arrivati a Cape Town senza pretese ma impegnandoci al massimo , abbiamo capito che possiamo essere lì tra i primi . Il traguardo è vicino , le condizioni meteo sono particolari ..siamo lì.. e la regata non è ancora finita...!!

Voglio ringraziare immensamente Adelaide che ha avuto la passione e il piacere di aggiornarvi quotidianamente sull'andamento a bordo di Almagores , grazie Ade !
Oggi ho voluto scrivere io per ringraziarvi anticipatamente di averci seguito , vi ricordo che Almagores è impegnata a far conoscere in ogni porto dove andiamo l'associazione THEODORA (www.theodora.it) che aiuta i bambini negli ospedali , visitate il sito e fate una donazione , siete in molti e anche con solo qualche euro a testa possiamo fargli un bel regalo , oltre a divulgare il nome di Theodora in giro per il mondo .......(traduzione : cacciate il grano!!!)
La regata non è ancora finità , ci rivediamo sulla linea di arrivo !!!

Good morning to everyone, we’re almost at the end of this beautiful race. AlmagoresII arrived in Cape Town to join this historical race with a lot of excitement. Our boat is set (ARMATA) in cruise mode, we have good quality ropes and sails but they are way far from a race performance but we decided to go through this adventure with passion and each of us gave his contribute (?) Depending on our experience and capacity. Well done to the crew! Well….. let’s say that during the first part of the race we had to face some problems that cost us many miles. First of all the loss of our light gennaker ,then the main sails’ batten and last but not least we found out that the sea cocks were trapped by a plastic bag, there’s way to much of that stuff in the ocean!In the second part of the race the other competitors, Mussulo and Haspa Hamburg never gave up and continued to gain miles so well done to them! Although we had some difficulties in maintaining the boat down wind with very light wind and without our gennaker, we remaind concentrated and fast. In the third part of the race the decision of our skipper Henriquet to pass the storm from north was completely right, because we managed to sail safe in 45 knots of wind where Giuli (Angelo Romanengo) was absolutely comfortable in steering the boat and I think we gained some miles thanks to this storm! We’re almost at the end and there a bit more then 200 miles between us and Rio de Janeiro,and the race is getting even more interesting, the wind is very light, extremely light, we’re doing our best to keep a good running and don’t stop the boat, down wind when you can up wind when you have to! Now that the finish line it’s getting closer, we think we’re able to be one of the first ones to get there although the weather conditions are very strange… I want to say a big thank you to Adelaide that had the passion to keep you up date with the news on board of AlmagoresII ,thank you Ade. I decided to write today ,cause I wanted to thank personally all of you that followed us. I would like to remind you that Almagores is willing to bring Theodora ,the association that helps kids in the hospitals, in each port it goes. We are loads even with just a few euros each we could make them a great present (www.theodora.it) The race isn’t finished yet so we’ll see you at the finish line
