Day 2
06 November 2013
I hear the engines. Must be time to head out. It's 6 a.m., raining and we are underway again. Down the ICW, past Beaufort N.C. Mile Hammock is our planned destination today. Winds are still out of the south, not favorable on the outside. On past Morehead City and Swansboro. We can hear the firing range as we pass Camp LeJeune. Winds are 5-10 as the rain lightens to a drizzle. We are traveling 6-7 knots motor sailing and making better time than planned. Moving on past Mile Hammock Bay, we set our sights on Topsail Island. Robert talks to friends there and they plan to meet us when we dock in Surf City. We are tying up at 6:20 p.m. We've put 60 miles behind us. That is a good day. We enjoy dinner at Sears Landing restaurant. The seafood is delicious! Seared tuna, shrimp, oysters ..... oh, and the fried green tomatoes, plantains and cheese grits. Makes it hard to choose a side. Back to the boat with friends along for another round of drinks in the main salon. We didn't get sought after showers until midnight. It was worth the wait though. We had great fun and lots of laughs.
