Day 3
06 November 2013
The day always starts with fresh perked coffee. We're underway by 6 a.m.and Carl makes breakfast. This morning it's bacon, eggs, grits and toast! The winds have changed to N-NW. Past Surf City bridge, Figure Eight Bridge, Wrightsville Beach bridge, Carolina beach and state park marina. Sails up, engines off....ahhhhhh! In the Cape Fear River we have winds 8-13 knots and boat speed 7-9. The wind dies at Bald Head Island lighthouse and our speed drops to 3.8. Engines are back on now and we're cruising at 9.7. We've done 49.5 miles today and time to slip into an anchorage at the Pipeline canal. It's 2:30....time for a nap before dinner. Becky has thawed the lasagna that I made. We warm up some french bread and toss a salad while the lasagna cooks.......it's dinner time! After watching a little t.v. (yes, SeaQuell is well equipped with generators, transducers and ,in this case, inverters) we chart our course for tomorrow. The forcast has advisories with 20-25 knot winds and 6' seas. Inshore is to be 10-15 building to 20. We decide to stay in.
