South bound....again.
29 January 2015
One hundred and twenty five miles of islands await! We are excited to be sailing the Florida Keys with our friends Don and Judy on Nemo. Repairs, more upgrades and provisioning are finally done. Cold fronts with lots of wind have been the norm here this winter. Plans have changed a few times. Hoping to leave in the morning.
Thursday January 29
We are underway! It is 8:20 a.m. when we leave Nettles Island. Don on Lydia Grace and Fred on Casa Mare join the caravan leaving the marina. The winds are out of the east at 5-10. The sun is shining and warming things up. It was a little chilly this morning. The predictions are for rough conditions on the ocean today. We chose to stay inside. We enjoy the scenery. Beautiful homes and condos line the waterway. The ICW is busy with cruisers headed south and sport fishermen headed every direction. There are nine bridges between Nettles Island and Lake Worth. So, the day is full of timing bridge openings and talking on the radio with bridge tenders. It is 5:00 p.m. when we anchor for the night in Lake Worth. We enjoy a drink and plan our day for offshore tomorrow. We have breakfast for dinner. Ham and cheese omelets with bacon and raisin bread toast. We have eaten quite a few loaves of raisin bread baked by the marina grocer. I gave Carl a hard time about buying one more loaf before we left. Now I'm glad he did. It is delicious! It's 7 p.m. now and I am writing this blog in the cockpit by the light of my tablet. There is a cool breeze in this quiet anchorage tonight. Looking forward to tomorrow.
