Summer's End
29 September 2015
A handful of leaves tumble to the ground and do summersaults into the pool. They float across on ripples from a cool breeze. The water is too cold for me to swim. The weather has been chilly all week. It is summers end and it feels like fall. It is time to think about heading south. This has been a busy summer. Since closing on Bay Breezin' at the end of July, it has felt like dejavu. Installing new solar panels, radar, and numerous other electronics. We are nearing the end of a long list. Now we are savoring our last weeks here. We have been taking family and friends sailing every chance we get. Our departure date is tenatively set for the second week of October. The canvas work and new cushions will soon be completed and we are starting to provision. I am trying to get organized, but I still feel like things are stashed all over the place! I'm sure that it will all come together somehow. With the fuel and water cans, kayak and bikes on the deck, we have morphed from weekend sailors to cruisers. SeaQuell will be leaving the first of October. We plan to leave a week or so behind them. Nemo will head out at the end of the month. We are looking forward to spending Halloween in Bath, N.C.. We have our costumes ready this year! Now we are just praying for fair winds and calm seas.
