Saturday May 14
It is 8 a.m. when we pull the anchor up at Georgetown. A woman is doing yoga on the bow of the boat next to us. We stopped at the fuel dock to fill up. We are soon on our way up the Waccamaw River and it is a beautiful day. The waterway is busy with pleasure boats. There are kayaks, jet skies and wake boards. We have to keep a sharp eye out with all of this traffic. Someone fell off a board in front of us and it was a while before the spotter realized it. As the boat finally turned around to pick them up, a power boat was speeding towards the person in the water. Carl quickly blew the air horn to get their attention and they immediately slowed down. Tragedy averted this time. The Waccamaw is one of the prettiest rivers on the ICW. There were many osprey and turtles along the way. We arrived at Osprey marina at 2:30 p.m. This is still one of our favorite marinas. We enjoyed several days of beautiful weather. One of our favorite Italian restaurants, Scatori's, sent a car to pick us up at the marina. After dinner we went next door to the grocery store to pick up a few things. They said our driver would take us back whenever we were ready. How nice! From the marina we can see goats at the zoo next door. We also saw buffalo when passing the zoo by car. Someone shot a copperhead in the water by one of the docks the other day. Now, we will watch for snakes when we take our walks. The rain that we've been waiting for finally arrived on Tuesday. It rained buckets! We made popcorn and watched old movies. Now, just hoping this mess moves on out ahead of us!
