Yaha!! Success! We went Venus Fly Trap Hunting early this morning and found success! It is all about knowing where to look. Took time to do a live broadcast during the hunt (http://ustre.am/HF5r) and sat for a while to do some plein air sketching. Such fascinating plants....I did have to see if he wanted a piece of my finger. Beautiful color contrast between the yellow-green and the burgundy.
So far we've looked into three different coastal Carolina specie: sea ox eye, glasswort and now the venus flytrap.
Today I really got a sense of what it must've been like for Alfred Wallace, the sailor/explorer whom provided all the field evidence to support the theory that Darwin took credit for. Exploration and sailing go hand in hand, guess it's in my gene pool!!
As for today we are waiting for the tide to come in so we can sail the next leg down to Southport. Local knowledge says wait for the tide to be running downstream with the Cape Fear River. So we'll see if we leave on the turning tide or stay another night here in our little piece of heaven we found.
