The Find in the boat yard

08 August 2011 | El Cajon, CA
This is the yard I stumbled onto while looking for some marine gear. While messing about in the yard, suddenly I got pulled into the call from "Carina". I've always been a believer that boats find you rather than you finding a boat.

Roughly 10 years in the yard on the hard waiting to be rescued and put back to sea.

A lot of scraping and sanding ahead to get down to bare wood.

Rudder

Deck is in great shape from previous owners efforts

Overall the interior I found to be in very good condition only needing minor repairs, cleaning and a few upgrades, along with new cushion covers.

The heating stove on Carina is all in place and in great shape as well.

Looking aft in the salon; Galley to port with a nav station to starboard.

An old reliable Perkins diesel still remains at the heart of Carina. Not sure yet if we'll upgrade or keep as original power source.

Lots of counter space and storage in her galley. Again all in place with only a few upgrades and the old tile needing to be replaced.
