Great marina in Marathon
30 March 2015
After our perfect day sail in the previous post, we arrived at the Harbour Cay Club marina where we were very fortunate to snag a reservation.
The Harbour Cay Club is a small marina cooperatively owned by 24 live-aboard slip owners. You can watch a Youtube video of the marina by searching on the marina name. The marina is a very welcoming and mutually supportive community which only rents a slip if the owners are away.
On arrival we had a very tricky approach to our assigned slip. We also had ten people on the dock watching our approach and standing by to assist us into the slip. In boating this is the standard cliché for a pending disaster with a large audience. We managed to finesse the docking without any problems and immediately had to learn the names of 10 new friends.
Within a couple of hours, Beverly and I mutually decided that we wanted to make reservations at this marina for next year. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people.
We spent a month at the Harbour Cay Club and reluctantly left during a great weather window on March 31.
