New Years 2018

01 January 2018 | Man-O-War Cay, Abaco
Doug
Following our amazing Christmas Day we made a quick trip to Marsh Harbour to restock on fresh veggies, lunch meat, bread (including a loaf of freshly baked Bahamian bread…um yum!), and a propane refill. Exciting stuff (ha ha)! Then onto Aunt Pat’s Bay where we broke out the stand-up paddle board for more practice.

On New Years Eve we returned to Man-O-War, attended church service and a New Years Eve party at the Costa Lotta, a second home owner’s house (everyone on MOW names their homes) on the Atlantic Ocean beach side of MOW. Being “mature”, we expected to leave well before midnight, but we were having such a good time that we stayed until almost 11pm. By the time we got back to our boat (walk to the dinghy dock, slow dinghy ride in the dark…but with a romantic full moon…to the boat) it was nearly 12pm. So we decided to hang in and wait for midnight to usher in the New Year with a blast of the boat horn! Several islands in the distance were shooting off fireworks.

On New Years Day we watched a lot of college football and had a traditional southern dinner of fried chicken, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes & gravy, green onions, and sliced tomatoes.
