Wild Sailing
28 February 2012 | From Falmouth to Green Island & Back
Heidi/quite windy/up to 39knots!!
She's back in the water and after nearly 4 weeks on the hard Centime was quite ready to sail. The weather gave her just what she needed - huge waves, around 10 feet, and strong wind with gusts to 39!! Plus with my brother and sister-in-law soon to visit we decided to sail into the wind with just two of us (the harder sail) so our sailing would be a bit easier on our guests when they arrived. As usual she handled the weather better than I did. I do get nervous when it's wild but she does sail well.
We met Vern and Sarah at Harmony Hall where there is an amazing restaurant and anchored just off shore in Brown Bay.
The following day (after a delicious dinner of red snapper and more) we went to Rickett's Bay, pictured above with Centime in the background, which was simply gorgeous. It's an uninhabited island with a couple of fun signs like "real men plant trees" and "where there is no vision the people perish." We had a nice hike and then grilled some chicken. we also met some French folks from Paris and Guadeloupe who made us a drink called "poonch" using passion fruit, honey and rum from Guadeloupe of course - very fun. Feeling grateful for my great captain husband, my borther and sister-in-law, and this amazing journey.
