NE Harbor - Somes - Southwest Harbor
08 August 2016
After spending several days exploring and hiking we moved on to Somes Sound, the only natural fjord in North America, to Somes Harbor where we anchored for the night. The next morning we sailed back down Somes Sound to Southwest Harbor and picked up a mooring from the Hinckley Boatyard. We had planned to sail on to Center Harbor in Eggamoggin Reach, near the Woodenboat School but we developed engine trouble as we started out and had to stay put. We tried to troubleshoot the problem ourselves and even had some help from Brian Murray on Southern Yankee but in the end it took a mechanic from Hinckley to solve the problem – debris in the fuel tank stopped up the end of the pickup tube.
