Jungle Walk Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! Had a lovely time at the Marina Restaurant Christmas Eve Buffet last night. We shared a table with Gunther and Legina, from Germany. The food was very good including home made egg nog and rum. Up today to the sound of an alarm going off. Mark set his watch to 7:30 for the Cruiser's Net on the VHF Radio. That means we slept in for a change. Maybe that was because it was Christmas day. Got to connect with some relatives on this special day using Whatsapp. We have better luck with our internet connections at the Cruiser's Lounge than on our sailboat. Today, their air conditioning was broken, so it was a hot place too. Mark topped off our fuel tank with the spare 5 gallon jug that we carry. We walked to the fuel dock, which is really a large fuel barge, but it was closed as the marina office was closed. Someone mentioned that they walked thru the jungle, so we headed out that way. We wanted to see the monkeys and toucans. At one point we saw two monkeys on our trail but they disappeared before we got too close. After lunch we headed up to the pool as it was extremely hot. Plus we wanted to do that early as we were joining the Christmas day pot luck dinner at 6 pm. I made a pan of beef with pasta and cheese sauce which turned out well. We had a fun time. Enjoyed meeting new people, several of which were Canadians. Had the chance to catch up with Rice University's new head football coach and his family, congratulations Mike! Thanks for all the emails and good wishes. We trust that your Christmas was festive and memorable!
