Last Minute Boat Prep
28 December 2017 | Shelter Bay Marina

Got up early and got ready to join the cruisers' bus to the Colon shopping mall. Arrived just before 9 and only a few shops were opened. Walked the length of the mall and back to the grocery store. Then headed back to the marina. We got a ferry boat ride both ways. Mark finally was able to fill our diesel spare jug which he said was quite the ordeal. He also renewed the registration of our PLB (personal locator beacons). Our agent showed up before lunch to collect the fees, but was gone before I got back. We had some lunch and checked the laundromat. First there was no washers available but one was close to being done. That worked for us so we are caught up now. Helped Mark do some underwater scrubbing of the props. At least the gator left him alone as did the jelly fish I noticed close to our boat. Hit the pool for the last time. The water is really cold for the heat of the day and cools us off. Visited with several of the cruisers. Everyone is going in different directions. Did some pre-cooking for tomorrow's meal which will include an Advisor and three line handlers onboard for our transit thru this side of the canal. Tomorrow we will be overnighting in the lake in-between the locks. Mark did engine checks so we are ready to depart. Tried to find the Stanford bowl game on ESPN but of course there is another game in its place. They will play the game tomorrow at 8 am on that network. We will see if the internet shows anything of Mike's last game coaching at Stanford.
