Land Touring Kangaroos & Koalas! Friday, November 23, 2018
23 November 2018 | Rivergate Marina, Brisbane, Australia
Helen/Mark
Watched one episode of Viking last night and headed to bed by 11. The wind had settled so sleeping on our new dock was very good. Woke up early but slept in some. After breakfast, we headed to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. We drove thru the Legacy tunnel which goes underneath Brisbane. It had to be a few miles in length. Saw lots of Australian birds and animals at the Sanctuary. We got to feed several kangaroos. Watched part of a live show with birds. Had a lovely conversation with some Canadians when we spotted their Blue Jays' t-shirt. Headed to the Gold Coast. Mark picked up some boat parts. We were heading to Main Beach when we saw a road sign for a waterfalls. Headed to Curtis Falls and enjoyed a long walk thru some gigantic trees with stone steps at the bottom. Lots of other tourists around there. Tiny but beautiful waterfalls. Enjoyed a place called North Tamborine. Then it was time to head back to the marina. We got caught in rush hour traffic. Met up with Colin & Julie, who built their own catamaran. We got the tour. What an amazing yacht! Then we headed up to the cruiser palapa for drinks & snacks. Enjoyed a great visit. Also, met several of the crew of Fidelis the mega yacht we had seen in New Calidonia, who were cooking dinner on the bbq. Thanks to everyone for your Thanksgiving emails and messages.
