Back to Pittwater

Last night we watched Spiderman 3 movie. It was a better movie than the other two. Didn't get to bed until after 11. It was pretty calm. Took a break and walked around the deck. The moon was about half size but very bright. Lots of stars brightly shining. There were no houses around the bay, just three other boats, some with anchor lights lit. Headed to bed after 11 pm. Woke up around 7 today. Both of us had breakfast. Mark was out of cereal, so he had some of mine, but not sure he liked it very much. We did not have any wifi this morning. I did the kitchen clean up while Mark checked engines and undid one line from the mooring ball. I let the second line go as we were close to the shore and also to the big sail boat that anchored at the end of our channel and close to us. The sun was shining but it was cold on the water. I had a sweater and jacket on. Even Mark wore a sweatshirt and jacket. The wind was light and again on the nose, so, we didn't raise a sail until we headed around the point and into Pittwater Bay. But the wind was variable and kept changing, so we ended up furling the jib. Was able to make some calls along the way. Anchored in 27 feet of water off the moored boats at the Avalon Sailing Club. It was just after 10 when we got settled. Mark launched the dinghy. I wore my sweater as the air was cool and it was very overcast, looking like rain was heading our way. We took our two small trash bags and headed in to the beach up the way as we knew they had garbage cans. Beached the dinghy. Mark pulled it up far enough for me to step off without getting my running shoes wet. We pulled it up a short ways as we were planning to be too long. Decided to take a walk thru the residential area. No shops or businesses around this area. Walked back along the beach to the dinghy. Headed back to the boat. Waiting an hour to go back for lunch to the Forage Cafe, that we visited last time we were in this area. Dinghied to the Avalon Sailing Club and landed on a tiny beach. Mark pulled the dinghy close enough for me to step out. Pulled it further up the beach so Mark could lock it to the tinny rack. Then we walked up the very big hill. Had lunch at Forage. I had two eggs & bacon with broccolini, instead of a bun. It was really tasty. Mark had the pork & apple toastie and coffee. Then we stopped by the mini mart and got some bread and eggs. Shopped at the organic shop beside it, to get fruit and veggies. Headed back to the boat. Spoke with a man that we had talked to when we brought our dinghy to shore. He was just leaving. He has an S&S 38 sailboat out on a mooring here. We told him that we sailed from Florida. He had lots of questions. We wanted to know his opinion on the local boat brokers. He gave a recommendation but just then, someone else drove down the one lane street and he had to move. So, we headed further down the hill to the steps and beach where we left our dinghy. Headed back to the boat. Put away the groceries. Mark would like to take the dinghy to the Royal Albert Yacht Club which has a Yanmar dealer there. He needed some parts. We contacted our friend, David, and he busy downtown today and suggested dinner or lunch tomorrow. We are going to move the boat tomorrow, so breakfast was a better fit. Decided to meet for a late breakfast tomorrow. Mark followed up on the company that is doing our boat importation. Then he received a call from one of our broker choices to see if we were still interested in a mooring ball next week. Then we headed out in the dinghy further up the bay. Lots of different marinas as well as many areas of moored boats on both sides and around Scotland Island. Stopped at the fuel dock at the Royal Motor Yacht Club. We can stop there to get fuel, water, pump out and even wash our boat. That will be our goal for tomorrow. Then we dinghied over to the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club as Mark found a yanmar dealer there and needed to picked up a couple of parts. What a beautiful yacht club. They only had one of the parts that Mark was looking for, but will order the other by Monday. Headed back and showered off the back steps. Had a short nap as we were both tired out by then. Joined Mark for happy hour tonight, along with tacos and humus. Thanks for your emails and messages received today. I posted a few pictures from our day on Facebook. After our breakfast with David, we will head over to RMYC for fuel and water. We will then look for someplace to anchor out there, or find another spot to stop for the weekend. Happy Valentines Day everyone!
