Laundry & Manly Beach

After dinner last night, we watched the movie, Lady Bird. We thought about giving up as it was not that entertaining. However, we watched it all the way thru. No big names in that movie. It was after 10 pm before we headed to bed. Slept well. Nice and peaceful and still in Elvina Bay. We woke up around 7:30. Breakfast was cereal and banana for Mark. I heated up last night's veggies for my breakfast and added some cheese. Cleaned up the dishes. Mark was busy doing odd jobs around the boat. We packed up some things to take to shore. Mark launched the dinghy. Then we headed over to the Beashels Boatshed, close to us, that owns our mooring ball. Mark talked to the owner, Colin, to see about getting us a ride tomorrow to our rental car. He told Mark to just call him when we are ready to go. Came back to the boat and loaded things to take to shore. We packed up some things to mail. Then we took all our laundry and headed to Manly Beach. They have a fabulous laundry called, Corso Laundry, and they do a great job for a lot less cost and hours than it would take us. Parked in an underground parking close to the post office. Mailed another parcel back home. Then walked out to Manly Beach. The waves were really big today. They closed the beach as we could not see any flagged areas for swimming. There were several surfers in the water. Lots of people on the beach. The sun was very hot. However, the clouds rolled in while we were there. Made a few phone calls and then we walked back to the New Brighton Hotel restaurant for lunch. Mark had fish & chips and I had chicken & chips which were two of the daily specials for $13. They actually added a small salad too. It was all tasty. Mark added a flat white coffee. We watched some of the championship college football game at that bar, in early January. We enjoyed our access to the free Manly wifi which was nice. Just as we talked about leaving the dark clouds dropped a good deal of rain on the area. We retrieved our car and drove back to the laundry shop. Mark waited in the car, while I picked up our clothes and paid the bill. Then we drove back, stopping at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club for a shower. We were lucky to find an open parking space. After showering, Mark gave them our swipe card back as we are a long distance away now and heading out of town tomorrow. If we need to use their facilities when we get back, we just need to let them know and they will give another card. They have been super wonderful to us. Then we drove back to the car park in the McCarrs Creek Reserve where we left our dinghy. Mark had to bail it out as this area also got rain. Dinghied back to the boat. The heavy rains left dark brown sand all over the deck. Mark and I went around and cleaned it off. This would be sand from the deserts east of us. You would just hope that the rain would wash off the deck, instead of adding to our workload. Then we spent time loading things into the port and starboard forward ΒΌ berths and under the cabin beds. I started packing for our trip to Canberra and Melbourne. It seemed like we lost our breeze. We were both sweating. I cooked up the last of our eggs with several vegetables for dinner. The sun set was actually pretty colorful tonight. The reflections in the water were quite stunning. I don't think my pictures did it justice. Very quiet on the water. The odd boat returned from their outings. One sailboat must have been out racing this evening. It was pitch dark when we went very close to our boat to the next mooring ball. The cicadas are making lots of noise in the trees in front of us. Don't hear any birds, so they must all be sleeping. Mark still have to finalize his packing. We will take the dinghy ride to our car and offload our suitcase and anything else we're taking. Then we will return, hoist the dinghy in the davits and get a ride to shore. Not sure what time we will be leaving, but that means another cleanup of the boat in case we have someone interested in seeing her while we are away. Thanks for your emails and messages. Really enjoyed hearing from you!
