Got to bed by midnight. Coated my throat with Vicks and took some cough syrup as well. Woke up a few times. Then Mark woke up around 8. So, I got up too. I had cereal for breakfast and Mark had toast and jam. Graham & Pamela woke up and joined us. Watched some of the local news. Then Mark and I showered and got ready for our day. Left the house by 10 and Graham & Pamela gave us a tour of this city. Lots of beautiful houses around the empty land. Hills in the distance. Visited the Arboretum. Lots of great views of the area from the top of that place. Drove around the capital building. It was lined up with the War Memorial. We parked at the parking lot at the Memorial and took the tour. The Australian War Memorial is located in Australia's capital, Canberra. It was in the north terminus of the city's ceremonial land axis, which stretches from Parliament House on Capital Hill along a line passing thru the summit of the con-shaped Mount Ainslie to the northeast. We enjoyed lunch at their cafe. Mark had a sausage roll and I had a small quiche. There was so much to see. Lots and lots of history. We toured some more and then walked back to the car. There was no cost for the tour but Mark donated some coins. Then we drove by Pamela's house that she has up for auction tomorrow. Beautiful house. Ended up at Pamela's Real Estate Agent's office to talk about tomorrow's house auction. We drove back to their house. Pamela made tea for her and Mark. I had water. We all enjoyed some cookies. The weather was beautiful. It was nice and sunny and around 80 degrees with a good breeze. I had a sweater on and at one point and thought about taking it off. However, I was comfortable enough. At least I haven't done too much coughing today. Really had a wonderful day here in Canberra. It's truly a beautiful area of Australia. Thanks to everyone for your emails and messages. We decided to head back to the Viking Club for dinner. They had a special on filet, so Pamela, Mark and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Graham had the lamb shank dinner. We tried our luck on the draws. Pamela was the lucky one. Then we decided to check out the slot machines. Graham was the big winner. We enjoyed trying. Watching a movie as we finish up this blog. Will be up early tomorrow as we have a 7-8 hour drive to Melbourne.
