Penrith & Blue Mountains

Mark Humphreys
We watched some tv shows last night and headed to bed just after 10 pm. I was already falling asleep as I was tired out. Had a long night's sleep. Didn't get up until 8 am. Had cereal for our breakfast. Then watched the local tv shows to get all the news and weather. Today's high is 25C. Mark and I decided to go to the gym today. We had to get a key at the reception desk, but someone already had the key. We walked down to the first floor and found the gym. We didn't stay too long. Their equipment was pretty dated. We walked by the pool and someone was in the hot tub. They said the water was warm. So, we went back to our hotel room and got into our swimsuits and headed back to the pool area. The hot tub was warm and the jets were not all working. The ones that worked did not have much spray power. At least today's start to the day was clear. Apparently Sydney had a foggy morning. You could not even see the Harbour Bridge and there were some traffic accidents. We showered, dressed and started getting everything packed. Loaded our bags in the car and departed around 10:30. Mark booked us a hotel near the Blue Mountains. Our drive out there took a couple of hours. We stopped for a few groceries since we were out of bottled water. Then we stopped for lunch once we got to Penrith. We shared a medium pizza with a very thin crust. We also stopped by the Nepean River and got a good lengthy walk in. There were tall trees close to the shore, so we couldn't see much of the river. Headed over to the Imgenia Holidays hotel. We unpacked the car and then took a walk around the hotel. They do have an outdoor pool and hot tub. We walked around the many cottages, some had rv's parked out front. So, I would assume that most of the cottages were owned by full time residents. The only thing I didn't like was that they ran some huge high powered electric lines overhead very close to our room. That cannot be healthy for anyone. We already pre-booked two nights so I suggested that we drive somewhere away from the hotel for the rest of the day. We had passed the Panthers stadium, on the way in, which also included about a dozen restaurants, gaming and play areas. It was a huge place. We started out trying our luck at their slot machines. Mark was very lucky on his machine and made up my $5 loss. We selected one of the cafes for our dinner. Mark had some nachos and pulled pork and I had a bowl of vegetables. We shared and it was plenty of food. We took a walk thru the other restaurants. One of them could be our dinner location for tomorrow night. We found the arcade area and they had a few bowling lanes. The only problem was that the lanes were short and the balls were small. It was 10-pin bowling. We both played a horrible game but we were the 4th and 5th highest of the day. It was a challenge, but we had a lot of laughs. It was after 8 pm before we drove back to the hotel. Mark started watching a movie on tv. Thanks for the emails and messages received today. Specials birthday wishes to Scott, Greg, Susan and Ruth who all lived on the same street and were our neighbors in Queens Harbour!! Will check out some brochures for this area and plan out tomorrow.
