Watched a couple of episodes of Mash last night. Headed to bed after 10 pm. Again, I slept badly, waking up a few times and able to fall back asleep. Woke up around 7:30 am. Watched some tv. Had cereal in our room. Got ready and checked out of our room by 10. It had rained earlier. The roads were all wet. We were surprised at how much traffic was on the roads today. There were many areas of slow downs with road construction. It continued to rain as we drove. The speed limit was 110 kilometers/hour. However, they posted signs that if it was raining, the speed limit was only 90. Of course, not many vehicles were driving at the reduced speed during the downpours. I noticed a city called, Toronto, just off the M1 hiway, just before we exited. We kept seeing so many cities here in Australia that also in the United Kingdom and Canada. Toronto & Windsor and Cardiff, to name a few.
Thankfully, the rain let up. The sun was warm at times with a high of 24C. We stopped for lunch at the Shipyard cafe on the water in Newcastle. Then we drove up to Knobbys Lighthouse. We parked and walked around the beach but did not walk up the long path to the lighthouse. We drove over to the Fort Scratchley Historic Site. We walked thru all the rooms of historic items all the way back to the 1800's. The view at the top was sensational. The beach was so very beautiful. The waves were crashing into shore with only a couple of surfers in the water. It reminded me of Manly Beach. The sun stayed out for the rest of the day. We enjoyed our long walk and climb up the hill. Drove the rest of the way to our hotel in Raymond Terrace. Tomorrow we will do some sight-seeing in Port Stephens. Thanks for the emails and message received today. Hope everyone is having a great week!
