Dolphins & Lookouts

Watched several episodes of Homeland on Netflix in our hotel room. Didn't get to sleep until 11 pm.
Woke up several times thru the night. Finally got out of bed around 8. Headed to the hotel restaurant for their free continental breakfast. They offered several types of cereal, some fruit, and breads. There were at least four other tables occupied. We headed back to our room afterwards. Packed up our bags for the cleaning staff to get thru our small room. Then headed out to Port Stephens. We drove out to the coast. Decided to take one of the Moonshadow V Dolphin Tours on a 3-story power boat. The ship left around 10:30. There were around 50 people on board, many were children. The captain was very chatty as we moved thru the large bay. Beautiful sights all around. We were able to see lots of dolphins. Then they opened up the small water slide into a special netting. We didn't partake as I didn't know that was available to us. Plus, I was wearing a sweater and the breeze was cold to me. Not sure I could have gotten into the water at all. Made several phone calls trying to show off the beautiful sights on the water. Apparently, my timing was not great. We really enjoyed our short time on the water. It was great to share with a few people. We got back to the dock around noon. Decided to have lunch at the local Cafe. I had a smoothie while Mark enjoyed the chicken schnitzel. Then we drove over to the local beach. We saw three of the biggest pelicans walking on the beach. Mark selected the next place to visit. There was a Volunteer Marine Rescue NSW station in Port Stephens. It came with a museum and lookout. Had a lovely chat with one of the workers in their VMR headquarters. Had a nice walk around their place. As we started to drive back to our hotel, we stopped a couple more places along the way. Very nice views were found at the Gan Gan Hill Lookout. Enjoyed some beautiful views as we walked around the top of the mountain. Then we drove back to our hotel. We thought about heading to the hotel pool, but despite temperatures of close to 80 today, the pool was cold. Also, the hot tub was not hot. We had a short rest. Then decided to check out the Raymond Terrace Bowl Club. They had a fabulous bowl area, including a restaurant, bar and gaming area. Lady luck didn't join us so we didn't stay too long. On the drive back to the hotel, we stopped at the Oh Thai restaurant in town. We shared a dish of fried rice with chicken and added some spring rolls. The food was excellent. Finally arrived back at our hotel around 7 pm. Will work on getting things organized for our drive back to Sydney and our boat, Charabia. Thanks for all the emails and messages. Our days are definitely going by too fast.
