Sea Princess Sea Day 4 - 05/17/19

23 May 2019 | Coral Sea
Did not get up until 8 am today. Got dressed and headed to the dining room. Shared a table with two other couples from Australia. One from Brisbane and one from Gold Coast. We both had ham & cheese omelets. Mark had bacon and hash browns, plus a danish. I had some yogurt and pineapple juice today. I attended a lecture on Bridge. However, it was so noisy in the big dining room. Lots of others were also being lectured as well. Mark had gone to the Donna, the Astronomer lecture in the Princess theater. I joined him when I was done and caught the end of the lecture. Then we walked up to Deck 14, Lido, for lunch. They only had one side open. It was a buffet with an Indian theme. Found enough things to eat...beef, pork from the carving station, lots of cooked vegetables. Plus dessert at the end. We walked up and checked out some more of the deck areas that we had not seen before. Then we ended up playing some basketball. Or at least throwing some balls in the net, but it took a while before either of us got a basket. We were both sweating when we were done. It was a nice sunny and warm day out on the deck. We got to see some islands off to our port side of the ship, off our balcony. Took some pictures. Then we came back to our cabin. I thought we would have a short nap, but we watched some tv and then Mark went to the Great Barrier Reef lecture, while I joined the Euchre group. Lots of people played different things. I played with Pat against Barry & Gaye. We played three games as we were tied up. Pat and I won. They played with 7 & 8's but we changed to 9 and up like we always played. It worked out well. But it took a long time. Headed back to the cabin. Mark talked about going to the hot tub, so we changed into our swimsuits and headed to Deck 12. The area with a pool and 3 hot tubs was pretty full of guests, so we selected an empty hot tub in the main pool area. The water was very hot. We didn't go in the pool. Also, did not stay for very long as we had to get ready for the Formal Night dinner. Walked back to our cabin and showered. Then took Mark's suit to the laundromat room and ironed his pants and jacket. They got wrinkled in his suitcase. Then we dressed up and headed to dinner in the dining room. We had the table to ourselves, until Gregory and Maxine showed up. Mark and I had onion soup plus beef tenderloin with veggies. Dessert was very unique mixture of chocolate plus a dab of ice cream. Headed out to the atrium area where they were giving out free drinks for the Welcome Aboard Captains' party. The drinks were champagne. We each had a couple of glasses. However, we missed our Caribbean fruity rum drinks. Then the ship's executives were introduced, as well as the captain. He gave a short speech, welcoming everyone. There were a few people who were introduced as the longest guests that stayed on board for 1500 days so far. That's a lot of years. Headed back to the cabin and changed. It was cool enough so I wore my jeans for the first time. We attended the Majority Rules, Game Trivia Show in the Vista Lounge with Jody & Jonah. The questions were strange and we only got 4 matches, so we didn't win. Headed back to Deck 12 and got a glass of water. Also, a dessert. Then headed to Deck 12 and picked up some popcorn to eat while we watched the movie, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. It was entertaining but I was falling asleep as it got close to the end of the movie. At one point, Mark said he saw a Shooting star. There was lots of clouds in the sky so not a great night to star gaze. We checked out the dance bar and it was just wrapping up. It was midnight before we got back to our cabin. I created the blog as Mark was watching a movie on tv.

Vessel Make/Model: Fountaine Pajot / Athena
Hailing Port: Jacksonville, FL
Crew: Mark &Helen
We are both computer folks that were live aboard cruisers back in the 90s. We settled in Jacksonville Florida after escaping the great white north and cruising the Bahamas, T&C, DR and points south down to Trinidad. [...]
Extra: Charabia is a French slang word for nonsense or gibberish. It derives from Arabic "sharab" which means alcohol. When you drink (too much) alcohol, you start talking Charabia. The original owners named her and Mark liked the name so it stuck.
