Sea Princess Sea Day 20 - 06/02/19

02 June 2019 | Arabian Sea
Helen
Woke up after 8 as we passed another time zone and fell back one hour. Got dressed and headed to the dining room on Deck 6, for breakfast. Mark asked for a table by the window and to share. We were seated by a window, but no one else joined us. I believe we were much later for breakfast today as the dining room was pretty empty. Breakfast was simple with some fruit and eggs and bacon. Mark had blueberry pancakes for a change. We headed back to our room and watched some tv. Then headed to the Vista Theater to watch the cooking demonstration followed by the galley tour. It was great to see a very empty, cleaned up kitchen! We checked out the merchandise sale but didn't buy anything. We walked around Deck 7 several times for our walking exercise. Along the way, we ran into the Captain of our Sea Princess. He had remembered talking to us before and again talked about his private boat and our boating experience. I asked if it would be possible to check out the bridge and he noted our cabin number and name, so we'll see if he can make it happen!! Walked up to Deck 14, Lido for lunch and sat with Diane and Jeff. It was already very crowded in the seating area. Enjoyed our conversation. They headed off before we were done eating. Mark went to get a coffee and dessert while I waited at our table. Another couple came along and joined us. We enjoyed talking with them before we noticed our time was running short. We headed back to our cabin and changed into our swimsuits. Then walked up the stairs to Deck 12 and the pool area, for today's water volleyball. Mark and I played on opposite sides today. My team won 2 out of 3 games. We took time out to watch the Voice At Sea challenge as one of our volleyball players was participating and actually won the over all contest. After our games finished, we headed back to our room to change. Then attended the talented passengers' ukulele performance, and then stayed for some of the choir performance. We headed back to the atrium for our final Ryder Cup Challenge. We both scored 2 on this hole. Then Jonah awarded medals to the top three. Five guys tied for 3rd place. Then Jonah brought out three bottles of champagne and we all got a glass to celebrate. What fun. We headed back to our cabin and by this time we were both tired out. I headed to the shower while Mark worked on his computer. We started watching the movie, Hidden Figures, as we got dressed up for another formal dinner night. So, we didn't get to see the end of the movie. We got to dinner and both dinner mates were already there. Enjoyed the dinner meal of Beef Wellington tonight. They ended the meal with a parade of the waiters and Baked Alaska for dessert! We headed back to our cabin and changed into casual clothes. Then headed up for the Movie Under the Stars. Tonight's movie was The Upside. The movie was entertaining, but I fell asleep. Also, I kept feeling like it was raining. I finally got under a blanket and that helped. The wind was blowing and I was feeling cold. We headed back to our cabin and watched Hidden Figures, some of which, we had already seen. However, it got to a certain point and re-started. They were having issues with their satellite tv, so some of the channels were not available. Late with the blog tonight. It's almost midnight. We are eight hours ahead of US East Coast Time. Thanks for the many emails and messages. We appreciate hearing from you. Tomorrow will find us in Muscat. Our plan is to take the shuttle bus to town. It should be an interesting place to visit.

We are both computer folks that were live aboard cruisers back in the 90s. We settled in Jacksonville Florida after escaping the great white north and cruising the Bahamas, T&C, DR and points south down to Trinidad. [...]
Extra: Charabia is a French slang word for nonsense or gibberish. It derives from Arabic "sharab" which means alcohol. When you drink (too much) alcohol, you start talking Charabia. The original owners named her and Mark liked the name so it stuck.
