Sea Princess Sea Day - 06/08/19
08 June 2019 | Gulf of Aden
Helen
Slept in until 8:30. I woke up several times at night, but must have eventually fallen asleep. Mark was awake when I woke up. As we stepped out on our balcony, we noticed that it was a very hot day. There was a nice breeze. As we moved thru the Gulf of Aden, the waters were pretty flat. We got dressed and headed to the dining room for breakfast. We shared a table with one other couple from Australia, who told us this was their 9th World Cruise. They also mentioned that they cruise for 9 months of the year. What a sweet retirement for them! They had lots of interesting memories to share from other their other cruises. We were almost the last passengers in the dining room as it closed for breakfast at 9. We headed back to our cabin. Watched some tv which is showing more movies. We got our hat and sunglasses and walked the deck some. It was hot in places, but a good breeze. In the shady areas it was quite pleasant as we walked. Then ended up at the gym. Mark and I worked out on some of the machines. He headed off to the Flying Doctors' Lecture, but it was well attended and not many open seats. He decided to head back to our cabin. I stayed at the gym and watched a Hercules Poirot movie as I walked the treadmill. Mark agreed that it was pretty warm in the gym. I joined him back in our cabin for the end of the movie. Then we changed into our swimsuits and headed to Deck 14 grill for lunch. It was much busier as today there was an Aussie bbq. Lots more choices on food in this area. Everything from meat pies to quiche, pork, chicken, beef and seafood. We sampled some of the food and finished in time to meet up with our volleyball players on Deck 12. We had a fun time playing. So many hilarious plays plus some lengthy volleys. Mark and I hit the hot tub afterwards in hopes of working out some of muscles with the strong jets. Then headed back to our cabin and showered. Then Mark was checking the location of our Ryder Cup when he noticed they changed the time. We rushed out to join today's session already in progress. Mark scored a 2, while I hit a chair leg which messed up my putt and added to my score. We headed back to our cabin. We had a short rest and then changed into our dress clothes for the formal night. We headed to the dining room and joined Ian, Beverly, Greg and Maxine for another wonderful meal. We each had the French Onion soup and beef tenderloins. Dessert was yummy too. I keep saying we need to stop eating desserts, but it's hard to pass up. After dinner, we headed back to our cabin and changed back into our shorts. Then headed to catch the magician, Brett Sherwood's show in the Vista Lounge. Had a lovely chat with crew member, Jonah, from Toronto, as we were early for the show. We sat only a couple of rows back from the stage. He picked Mark and another passenger to come up on stage. We laughed so hard. The magician was excellent. I was glad that I didn't get picked! We headed to Deck 12 as Mark wanted some popcorn. We ended up staying to watch the movie, Fighting with My Family. It was entertaining and not that many people were awake for the late showing. Much calmer on the seas today. We didn't see any of the pool water sloshing. We were well into the waters off Somalia today. There was a noticeable presence of security on Deck 7, keeping watch on the waters around the ship. We are in very good hands. We walked up to Deck 14 to get a drink. Mark had a coffee and I had a chamomile tea. We sat for a few minutes to drink them. We also took a glass of ice water to our cabin. Only a couple other people around. They do have drinks available after hours. However, there is no food for anyone that could possibly be hungry after hours. Thanks so much for your emails and messages. We have 3 more sea days before we stop in Aqaba, Jordan.
