Sea Princess Sea Day - 07/06/19

06 July 2019 | Baltic Sea
Helen
Slept until 8 am. Had a very nice deep sleep with dreams. At least I did feel rested. Watched some news with the 7.1 Earthquake in California. We got dressed and headed to Deck 14, Lido. Then came back to our cabin, but our room was not made up. We took some warm clothes and headed down to Deck 7 to walk. The wind was bitingly cold on one side of the ship, but the other one was somewhat sunny. Our high today was only mid 50's. That was very cold for us. It really felt like winter without any snow. We came back to our cabin, but it wasn't quite cleaned, so we walked around our floor and sat outside in a protected area at the back of the ship. Someone else was dressed in shorts and a t-shirt and told us that they were waiting on their cabin as well. When we got back to our room, it was all done. We watched part of a movie, Operation Finale, which was most interesting. However, we didn't see the beginning or end before we headed to lunch. We chose Deck 14, Lido, as they always have lots of cooked veggies for me. Another couple came and sat with us, as tables were pretty full. They were from New Zealand, but getting off in England. After eating we returned to our cabin in time to see the end of the movie. Then we headed to the Vista Lounge to support the passengers that play the ukulele and performed for the rest of us. After that show, the Sea Princess Choir, made up of passengers, sang a number of songs. Very entertaining. It was done in time for us to head to the Princess Theater entrance hall for our Ryder Cup challenge. Mark actually got a hole in one, going from one side of the ship to the other, but he hit a sand trap and got a one stroke penalty. I hit the ball too hard and got penalized by a stroke and then missed my shot, so Mark beat me soundly today. We had only one more challenge left before we get to Dover, England. We returned to our cabin. Showered and got dressed for dinner. Tonight was a dressy night. We took a couple pictures, which could be the choice for today's blog. Enjoyed our dinner tonight as we count down the final days on the Sea Princess. They had a Captain's Party at 7 pm in the atrium. They served a few different drinks. Mark had a beer, while I had a vodka drink. The captain gave a great speech as he is also getting off with us in Dover. Talked to several people around the ship. Then decided to try our luck in the casino. Mark was up some, but gave it back. I gave them a few Aussie dollars. Then we headed back to our cabin. Mark checked the laundry room and found it available. So, we started two loads and watched tv in our cabin while we waited. The seas look angry with 5 foot waves and high winds. We will be in Copenhagen, Denmark by 9 am tomorrow. Thanks to all for your emails and messages. We are enjoying our last few days aboard the Sea Princess.

About:
We are both computer folks that were live aboard cruisers back in the 90s. We settled in Jacksonville Florida after escaping the great white north and cruising the Bahamas, T&C, DR and points south down to Trinidad. [...]
Extra: Charabia is a French slang word for nonsense or gibberish. It derives from Arabic "sharab" which means alcohol. When you drink (too much) alcohol, you start talking Charabia. The original owners named her and Mark liked the name so it stuck.
