Woke up early, around 6. We didn't get to bed last night until well past midnight. Took a while, but I fell back asleep. We finally got up around 8. Robert and Chris were both already up. We had breakfast. Then worked on our emails updates. The four of us headed out for a walk before lunch. We followed the Niagara Golf Course out to where the river meets the lake. The sky was looking very dark and threatening. We could hear some thunder which made us reconsider getting any further from home. We walked back to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake and then a couple of blocks over to Robert & Chris' home. Thankfully, we arrived before the heavens opened with a huge amount of rain. Mark and I showered. Then spent some more time re-packing our bags. Helped Chris put together a lovely lunch. We sat out in the screened porch. It was still dark in the sky and we could hear a lot more thunder. The rain was supposed to end by lunch time. Mark and I decided to run a few errands. Chris was putting together a pan of cereal, which she was baking. Robert was working on things around the yard when we left. We made a stop at a local winery called, Big. Then we topped up our fuel at the gas station right in the heart of Virgil. Mark said he needed a few things for his vehicle. We checked our gps for locations of the store, Canadian Tire. He selected one that was almost in Niagara Falls. It was raining some once more. He found a few things that he needed. However, he bought an incorrect flash light and then had to return it. By this time it was raining more, so I am glad that I stayed in the Jeep. Drove back and the weather improved some. We got back and caught up on emails. Worked on our plans for next week's meet ups. Then got ready and headed out to dinner. Chris selected Garrison House, which was right on Highway 55. The food and drinks were very good. Enjoyed our last dinner together. Robert drove us thru Garrison Village. Lots of new homes in that area. Then worked our way to Lakeshore Road and then into Niagara-on-the-Lake. We stopped at the end of golf course and walked out to where they were constructing a walkway on the edge of the water. It was so very beautiful. The sun was almost setting. This was a favorite place where, as a child, we used to come to swim. Looks like this area will look totally different when they finish the construction. Headed back to Niagara and decided to take a walk, since our earlier one was so short and the weather had cleared. I was wearing a sweater by now as the breeze was cold to me. Walked across the famous Niagara Golf course. No one was on the course as it was long closed. We could see the scaffolding surrounding Fort Mississauga which was located on the waters of the Niagara River where it meets Lake Ontario. Chris told us that there were tunnels from the fort to the water. However, there was now locked gates on the tunnel entrances, so we couldn't walk down to the water. I did some connections on the old bricked walk ways. I could see the many battles from over 200 years ago, that took place there. We walked back and sat out on the front veranda. Robert & Mark enjoyed a glass of scotch. The breeze was cold as we sat outside. Eventually, we gave up and went inside. Thanks for the many emails, messages and calls. We appreciate hearing from you. Enjoy your day!
