Alarm was set early. Had breakfast and showered as we finished packing and closing up the condo. Left around 8 or so. Our drive was only 20 minutes. Met up with Ken, our real estate manager. We took a tour of the house and dock, waiting for the carpet installer to arrive. He was a no show. Mark finally gave him a call, but he was going to take another hour to get there. We didn't have time, so it will be arranged thru Ken. I was not expecting to see a pretty empty house. Thanks, Ken, for taking care of our home while we were gone. Mark wanted to make a call to JEA to get our power switched over for next month, so I drove. We were surprised that our choices were for Saturday, Aug. 31st or Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. They were going to charge us a $600 deposit as new clients, even though we have been there clients for over 20 years. They checked and verified that we didn't have to pay the deposit. I drove as far as the Georgia border and Mark took over the driving. We thought that the fuel price was very high at $2.69/gallon, so we continued further into Georgia. We paid $2.23. I had heard that Georgia fuel was under $2/gallon. We stopped for lunch in South Carolina. Then continued driving to Charlotte. Arrived at David & Pam's beautiful home just after 4 pm. We had a lovely visit with Pam's sister Beverly and her mom. David arrived home with some delicious bbq for dinner. Pam arrived a bit later. We enjoyed our time together. The evening passed by too quickly. We so very thankful for your hospitality! Thanks also for the many emails and messages. Enjoy your day!
