Back in Kudat - Borneo


The paint we were waiting on arrived apparently Monday afternoon! We had been chasing it since Monday morning and only discovered from Langkawi (island above mainland Malaysia) Tuesday lunchtime that it had been delivered Monday arvo!! Go to the office at midday to check BUT of course it's lunch time - shut until 1.30pm.

Oh well 41o deg in the shade, like being in a sauna today, so have a cold drink and go with the flow.

Another yacht has joined us on the hardstand today and they are from Airlie Beach - we actually sailed with them to Indonesia in 2008 but didn't really ever get to catch up just saw them on a bus or anchored in the same bay. - Time to chat while waiting for the lunch break to end.

1.30pm off to the office which is only a few metres from us and sure enough our paint is there!

The pace changes to full on action, Wan, a lovely Filipino chap assisting us, and I begin masking the water line of the boat. Chris and Wan paint while I supervise, stir paint and dish out small quantities at a time as the paint was getting a skin on top whilst stirring it due to the temperature.

Chris was on a mission and as you can see Chris manages to get paint everywhere not only on the boat but the concrete and himself. It didn't stop there either, after his shower the walls and floor were splattered with blue where he had scrubbed it off himself!

Wan doesn't have even a splatter on himself - all paint on the boat!!

I wish I had taken a video seeing Wan looking at Chris as if he was a mad man going so fast rolling in all directions up, down, diagonally back and forth like a fast forward movie. Wan then continues with his roller working from top to bottom methodically back and forth, back and forth!!

Mission completed, paint touch dry just as the first few spits of rain start - it looked like we were in for a downpour but fortunately not.. Much later in the evening just as we were getting back from town - late dinner roti telur (egg roti), down it came and cooled the temperature nicely for sleeping.
