A day for exploring, ordered a taxi at 9am to take us to Seremban, approx 40 mins ride, where we caught a bus to Malacca which took an hour.

Malacca is a very historical town, conquered by the Portuguese in the early 1500's then the Dutch took over mid 1600's where they ruled until 1826 when the British moved in and controlled until 1946. The Japanese had a short stint in 1942.

Many of the buildings have a Portuguese and Dutch influence. We were fortunate to go mid week, hence not over run with tourists. Apparently Fridays and weekends are very busy with tourists.

We took a very pleasant river cruise with commentary, best place to be in the middle of the day and the searing heat. There are numerous museums which we didn't stop at as it would take a few days to have the time to look through them all. We meandered through the streets taking in the various buildings and shops, also along the river many B & B's, backpackers and cafe's and restaurants

The last bus back was 7pm, we just had enough time to have a meal and some icy cold beers at the Discovery Cafe which is also a guest house, in fact everything, money changer, taxi, tour bookings. We got their taxi to take us to the bus depot, the driver asked why are we getting a bus we could take a taxi all the way back to the marina. His quote was only 140MYR significantly cheaper than the 200 MYR quote from the Marina Taxis. In view of that we decided to stay and view the town by night, doesn't get dark until about 7.30.

A quick taxi trip back at the marina by 10pm, only took an hour.
