The road to paradise is long and challenging but the reward is a beautiful clear turquoise water and the famous grotto where Alec and Ryan dived in as soon as we anchored.
To recap, we had a beautiful crossing from Florida to South Riding Rock, sailing all the way with a south west wind, pretty unusual at this time of the year, we were going an average of 10 knots with a pointe to 14 knots, Cheval was galloping
on the waves!!!!We reached the banks early afternoon and crossed, still sailing, banking on our good luck with the wind, but luck always end at some point and we ended reaching North West Channel, motoring and beating in a 20 knots wind,
so we had enough and decided to spend the night at Chub Cay, we reached the very calm anchorage at 2am and fell asleep .... Next morning we headed for Nassau and motored in a 15 knots wind, not too bad with a nice surprise just before reaching the west entrance of Nassau, we caught two nice Mahi Mahi. We checked in Nassau on a Saturday afternoon at the Marina (Nassau Harbor Club), we enjoyed the pool and a nice dinner at the Poop Deck with a beautiful sunset.
Next morning we decided to head for the Exumas, we knew it was going to be a beat, 15 to 20 knots of wind south, south-east but we did not realize (at least Alec , Ryan and myself) how long it was going to be!!!!
We sailed at first wearing off the direct track and missing the yellow banks but then we had to go back on track and I have to say Marco and Polo(our twin diesel engines) did their job!!!!! We arrived in a calm and beautiful anchorage in Hawksbill Cay where we spent the night.
This morning we left early heading for Staniel Cay, stilla beating, 18 knots from the south east, but we are here, one of our favorite spot, one that Alec wanted to share with Ryan since so long. Alec and Ryan ,after an exploration of the grotto, went in town with the dinghy to check it out , find some Bahamian bread and cruise for babes..... I am so happy to see them both in the water and the sun
having fun.....
