Far South in the ragged
24 June 2013 | Double Breasted Cay, Ragged Islands

A brisk sail surrounded by squalls took us from Water Cay (the North of the Ragged Islands) to Double Breasted Cay (the South of the Ragged Islands), around 40 miles. We made the pass through Johnson Cay easily around 1 pm and found the same idylic anchorage we fell in love with, 9 years ago, when we explored this area with Mariposa (Amy and Dave and their children from Colorado). The fishing is good but not as prolific as in Water Cay, we found some very nice thin lip conch and beautiful ocean beaches with cliffs and lots of treasure (sea glass, sea beads, shells, old fishing bouys, etc....).
A big reef shark was roaming around "Cheval" the last 2 days so Alec and Dianne decided to take some interesting underwater videos, the shark came to check them out and went away , each time he was coming closer until he went right under their bellies and it was time to get out of the water before he got too hungry!!!! A strong steady wind gave Alec the opportunity to kite surf quiet a bit in very shallow turquoise water, a dream....
