Everything in a day.

Woke up to serious wind, first time for ages. The exit from.Rothesay Marina is only about 11/2 x the width of the boat and with a lot of wind we needed a big thunk about how to get her lined up. No way we could put the bow through the wind so we had to maneuver around to the nearest pontoon to the exit [...]

Back on the boat.

Funeral day went well, now back on the boat on Thursday. Friday we needed a lazy day so confined ourselves to a 1 hour motor in no wind to Millport on Gt Cumbrae. Two nights there with a trip on the island's only bus to get a look round. Missed a decent sailing wind Saturday afternoon but never mind. [...]

Nothing to report

Not much to say. We are in Leeds for Ann's Mum's funeral tomorrow. Motored from Troon to Largs on Saturday, a good call as trying to sail with my leg covered on plasters was probably not a good idea. It's healing well now. Back to the boat on Thursday.

Football...or hospital...

Hi Again. Gained an agreement that would see us in a place to watch England v Denmark. A boring trip on the motor from Stranraer to Lamlash (on Arran), managed to sail for only 20 minutes before the wind died again. Lamlash is very pretty, I would thoroughly recommend a visit if you are ever in the [...]

Scotland beware, here we come.

So, when I last posted we were still in England at Maryport. Since then we sailed via Isle of Whithorn, and East Tarbet Bay in Scotland on the north coast of the Solway Firth then to Wig in Loch Ryan and now we are in Stranraer. The first three were at anchor and now we are in Stranraer Marina. All [...]

Tucked up in Preston

03 October 2019 | Preston Marina
Ann and Steve Crome
This year's trip ends with us tucked in Preston Marina. Good use of of great weather window yesterday between the howling gales on Monday and the strong winds forecast for Friday onwards. We part sailed part motorsailed in a weak northerly and had a lovely last tip of the season. The people in Preston could not be more helpful it's going to be a great place to spend the winter. Winter maintenance is already started, the mainsail is down, washed and rolled to be stored in Ann's Mum's garage (she doesn't know this yet!). Foresail comes down once the wind drops. The liferaft needs some TLC after an altercation with the wall of the lock while fuelling up yesterday. The first serious damage of he season on the last day, bugger. Ann is off to Leeds on the train tomorrow to fetch the car (via a meeting guiding in Birmingham) . Steve is on maintenance, and watching the rugby.
