CH0310 Update
02 April 2010 | Ole Miss Seafloor Observatory
Stephen
We are a week into the third cruise of 2010 (CH0310) and the weather has been mostly cooperating with light winds and moderate temperatures with only one day or stronger winds. We did have to go back into Gulfport to pickup some scientific equipment for DTAGS.
The cruise ic the Bottom Loss Underwater Exercise (BLUE 10) using the DTAGS system and a chirp Geoprobe developed at NRL.
The DTAGS (Deep Towed Acoustics/Geophysics System), is a multichannel seismic system which will be towed from the R/V Hatteras to obtain high-resolution seismic data sampling the ocean bottom and subbottom.
Show is a photograph of the DTAGS on the stern.
