Bottom scraping

28 November 2010
So yesterday was boring enough; went over first thing with a big tub of 3M Vinyl Ester to start filling in chipped out holes and popped blisters. Unfortunately it never got above 60 degress F, the minimum setup temperature for this formula. Soooo.... I grabbed my scraping knife and got to work on the bottom. WOW! Several little dime-sized areas got bigger, even got one or two areas this size of a piece of paper. All the loose paint is off; of this I am confident! On the other hand, now I have a lot more to do when the temperature comes up.

As long as I was there I settled on a post-hull-work plan, at least for the first phase. A little exploratory surgery confirmed my suspicions that the electrical work is going to be a MAJOR undertaking. I have plenty of extra wires and wires that need to be replace because they're 47 years old. Nothing is labelled, of course. Ugh. Let's ignore that for now. The hull is easy, and that's the current project anyway!

According to TWC (The Weather Channel) we're supposed to be up close to 70 on Tuesday; keeping my fingers crossed!
