E-Board
22 December 2010
You just gotta love projects you can do at home and take to the boat for installation. Take away from yesterday's trip down included the dimensions for the new breaker panel, a potential fix for the shortage of battery storage space, and the dimensions for what I'm calling my E-Board. I also figured out where I'm going to run my PVC conduits, and how they'll be attached.
The photo above is my E-Board. It's basically a place to mount all of my electrical infrastructure components, including inverter, battery charger, and isolation transformer. The E-Board will be mounted along side the engine compartment in the quarter berth. Out of the way but not inaccessible.
I know I'm going to catch some grief for this, but I made it out of pine. The location this thing will be going is about the driest spot on the boat. Because I'm ADDING weight to the boat, I tried to minimize the impact by using light wood, and as little of it as possible. The location, although not ideal, is also as close to the centerline as possible. I debated putting it behind the port settee, which would have made for easier access, but opted for the current spot to get the weight as close to the centerline and as low as possible. Again, a little adjustment, but good practices are cumulative!
All things being equal, I should be spending a good chunk of today sorting out wires.
