Work has begun in earnest
07 September 2011
In the days of yore sailors dreaded the horse latitudes. The wind would just STOP. For days, weeks, or more. Then, one moment, a light breeze would tussle the still rigging. Men would look up, and over the course of an hour or two a breeze would begin to blow and the trip would be on again.
I finally found a job. The rigging is being tussled and the heavy canvas sails are beginning to show signs of life. I spent ALL WEEKEND completing little projects and getting infrastructure installed. The mast and boom are next to the boat waiting for a rigger. Our local sailmaker is ready to come take measurements. My local diesel specialist is waiting for me to get power to the starter. My fiberglass guy has me on the schedule to get the boot and cove stripes on. All the major electrical components are installed, I just need to get an electrician in here to connect the dots while I'm at work. Oh, and I need somebody to look at the propane system to verify it's safe and in compliance.
I am hoping, praying, to launch within 30 days. I need to have the boat up in the Annapolis area as soon as possible so I can live aboard and work.
Blow, wind, blow!
